Overview

As a technical artist you know how to bring artistic visions to life. You have the tools and knowledge of the render pipeline to create shaders, custom render effects and lighting. Being a bridge between tech and art you help facilitate and improve development processes between disciplines. You communicate technical requirements to the artists and in collaboration with the programmers build tools that make content production more efficient.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up efficient shaders to help develop the visual direction of the game or support new gameplay features
  • Create effects in Unity 3D
  • Set up (real-time and baked) lighting in Unity 3D
  • Work in collaboration with tech and art to improve the content production process

  • Experience with the creation of special effects that clearly communicate gameplay functionality and add to the game feel
  • An eye for proper lighting to support the game experience
  • Experience with Github repositories
  • Some experience with the creation of optimized models in 3D software like Blender, Maya, Zbrush or 3ds Max and the implementation of these assets in Unity 3D (or a comparable engine)
  • Monitor game performance and explore optimization solutions

What could help:

  • Programming experience for Unity and/or Blender to create tools that help artists create content more efficiently
  • Experience with rigging and animation
  • Experience with mesh generation

Soft skills

  • Connector: Act as a bridge between artists and programmers. You’re aware of the technical possibilities and limitations and communicate these with artists in order to provide assets that match the project and platform.

  • Creativity: Ability to come up with creative solutions for technical and artistic challenges
  • Accountability: setting up and maintaining a scalable project structure that fits the requirements of the programmers and matches the workflow of the artists.

Our take on the post-Covid work situation

We value our team spirit, a healthy work life balance and company culture. This is why we adopted a hybrid structure that allows us to work from home and in the studio. This is why we would like you to be able to come into the studio every once in a while. We will offer support during the relocation proces.

If you prefer to work remote, we are open to  finding a way to make that work. However, we prefer candidates to be roughly in the same time zone to ensure in sync work routines with the rest of the team.
