Overview

As Quality Assurance Tester, you are part of the QA Process and Team. You work closely with several agile development teams. You support them with providing insights and feedback on the output of sprints and milestone deliveries. Your QA activities helps the development teams to correct issues while they’re hot. You continuously help them to achieve rock-solid stability, functionality, performance, consistency and overall integrity in our games. Your QA process fits in an agile framework, and is a true time, cost and headache saver for the development teams.

OUTCOMES

  • Use investigative skills to find problems, assisting programmers and artists with reproducing and validating bugs
  • Ensure that all bugs are recorded in an efficient and informative manner
  • Carry out smoke tests and specific checks in a consistent and thorough manner as part of a structured test plan
  • Verify the implementation of features and fixes for existing issues (regression)
  • Working together with Producers and Game Directors on prioritization of issues
  • Defining the QA processes and best practices for the game
  • Collaboration with development teams on integration of QA in the development process
  • Assisting the Producer with submissions to console manufacturers (e.g. Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo)
  • Staying up to date on console manufacturer certification procedures

ROLE BASED COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of testing methodologies (user tests, regression tests, usability tests, etc.)
  • Interest for game development and the unique challenges it brings
  • Experience with testing tools and defect management
  • Highly structured and an analytical mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Clarify and escalate relevant issues where you feel the severity is misunderstood
  • Able to give qualitative feedback on the titles beyond bug reporting

QUALIFICATIONS

  •  3+ years of experience within a game development studio or game development environment
  • Shipped a minimum of one console game, including compliance related passes
  • Experience of mentoring junior staff, delegating tasks and monitoring their progress on a daily basis.
  • Experience with setting up and managing bug databases and workflows in JIRA
  • 40+ hours a week availability at our studio in The Hague.

Nice to haves

  • Experience with Unity, Git
  • Experience with additional tools besides JIRA
  • Experience with test automation
